AOI Management Based on Microsoft's standard wizard user interface design, the AOI Management Tool provides users with a set of functions to properly manage their Area Of Interest (AOI) collection. Using this tool, users can create, modify and delete their AOI's. AOI can be defined by either picking two points interactively from a current map or by using survey grid systems such as DLS, NTS, FPS, Lat/Long (Deg/min/sec) or Lat/Long (Degree fraction). Mixing of two grid survey systems is also possible when defining an AOI that lies between two grid systems. Once an AOI is created, it is saved locally in a Personal Geodatabase. Therefore, user defined AOI's can be shared among multiple ArcMap sessions. AOIs can also be saved in an Enterprise Geodatabase / ArcSDE. With this latter configuration, AOI sharing among multiple users is achievable. The AOI Management Tool can be configured to utilize a corporate spatial data infrastructure. In other words, all survey grid systems used in the AOI Management Tool will be based on SDE layers stored in a corporate ArcSDE environment. The AOI Management Tool can be customized to use any survey grid system. Meridian Centralization A quick and simple way to allow users to re-project the map with a different Central Meridian (Longitude) when using a UTM Projected Coordinate System. A previously defined AOI can also be used as a target meridian for centralization. Custom Annotation There are two components included in the Annotation Toolset: Excel Import The Excel Import Wizard allows the user to import data into ArcMap by one of the following three methods :
DLS Grid Edge Annotation Configured to utilize a corporate DLS survey grid SDE layer as the datasource. This tool will quickly label a map frame with DLS township and range labels. The DLS Grid Edge Annotation offers the flexibility to take care of even the most difficult annotation tasks. For example, as illustrated, this tool will intelligently annotate a map frame even with a severely rotated and/or clipped map. External Application Links The External Application Links can be customized and linked to ArcMap through a flexible "iReport" user interface and architecture. Many different applications have been easily linked using this technology. A sample is listed below for illustration purposes:
Layout / Plotting The Layout/ Plotting Toolset helps users to quickly build maps. This toolset consists of the following components:
The Layout/Plotting Toolset will ease this task and quickly let the user know if spanning is required. HOC Layer Extension The HOC Layer Extension enables ArcMap to utilize the HOC technology as its primary data querying and reporting facility. Consuming HOC's XML based web service, users will be able to create refreshable "HOC layer" based on the queries (shortcuts) and reports they have previously created in a HOC querying session. Resulting HOC layers are, by default, configured to be stored in Personal GeoDatabases. However, for workgroups who have a more direct control over their corporate ArcSDE environments, HOC layer extensions can also be configured to make use of their ArcSDE as the storage destination. Meta data, such as time, query and report definitions, are also captured inside your HOC layers. This unique technology allows users to "refresh" their layers on a regular basis. Past query data is purposely preserved instead of deletion, therefore providing an opportunity to create timeelapsed display of query scenarios. Seismic Extension The seismic module consists of the following two components:
